The birth of social cults

[vc_row thb_divider_position=»bottom»][vc_column][vc_column_text]The author’s point of view on a phenomenon of a social cult in modern society is presented in this article. The author entered and opened the new concept «social cult». The point of view on the reasons of emergence of this phenomenon from positions of intra group dynamics is stated.

Development of any social society happens in a waterway of ethnocultural identity (values, the epos, religions), certain historical traditions, development of scientific knowledge, a characteristic political policy and other. As a rule, competently used data set of factors, provides to society stable development, so the minimum deviation of rather sociological norm. But if economic or political models can be simply reformed and rebooted, then the phenomenon concerning a social cult needs to be considered in a psychosocial context, for detailed understanding of the reasons of its emergence.
So, the cult (from Latin kultus) means honoring, addiction, worship. Within this article, the cult will be considered by the author as a pseudo-religious worship for social phenomena. In particular: a cult of a search engine of Google or Google church of the founder M. McPherson, a cult of Universal people of the founder I. A. Bend, the reason cult based by P. G. Shomett and Ge. R. Hébert, cults of beauty, consumption, money, a cult of a victory in World War II etc.
In the light of above-written we will explain that the author means a quasireligious worship of the person for social phenomena of the modern world by a social cult.
Need of the person to unite in various groups is put at the instinctive level from the birth. The reasons of this aspect of development are caused by evolutionary advantage of group before singles. Certainly that collective often absorbs identity of the specific person, acting as an independent organism. But efficiency and prevalence of similar groups is based on receiving emotional support and regular interaction between his members that creates feeling of participation and security. In other words, in specific group chances of survivals of all carriers of certain ideas accumulate and increase in comparison with thorough individualists. Therefore, an intermediate conclusion can be formulated so:
«cumulative fitness gives more advantages, than fitness individual». (T. Leary of p. 25)
Let’s assume that the needs for protection, emotions, communication are satisfied with group, but on what basis then there is a phenomenon of a social cult?
Whether the reason of its emergence by social problems in society is caused?
So, the French researcher Sh. Enshlen wrote: «the cult attracts masses making dizzy them with illusory hope». As soon as the person begins to test chronic dissatisfaction with real events as soon as awareness of hopelessness of the events is formulated, people unite in groups, the movements, marches, etc. Therefore, as the reasons adverse social conditions for life with a surplus of a regular stress act.
So, with approximately identical symptomatology, people also unite in groups on different signs that promotes improvement of their emotional state, illusion of the importance and security.
As a rule, the following psychological features are peculiar to them: uncertainty, a low self-assessment, suggestibility because of inert living position, conformism, lack of the independent point of view, plans, etc.
Therefore, at the first stage psychological and social problems in society, are a prerequisite of emergence of certain communities / groups.
Concerning the bases of emergence of a phenomenon of a social cult, it is necessary to understand that any group is created around any exaggerated idea. Such «idea» gains powerful development in the group, sometimes adjoining on threshold.
For an illustration of above-written we will analyse a cult of a victory in World War II.
So, rituals of a social cult of the XXI Art.:
Demonstration of weapons of mass destruction, worship to fire «escaping from a pentagram» (3), display of thematic movies and broadcasting in media of vulgar ecstasy.
Attributes: A St.George’s Ribbon instead of laces, field porridge and the alcohol lovingly named «field 100 grams».
The formula is old as the world and the ancient Roman poet — the satirist Yuvenal:
«bread and shows»!
As for actions: An immortal regiment, the St.George’s Ribbon or some Shaggy regiment (2) that with detailed intra group dynamics, it is possible to examine above. (p. 2)
It is obvious that the system of beliefs is completely synchronized with general group unity that gives fertile soil for transformation of consciousness of all participants by some mythologization of events.
(Sh. Yu. Mukhamedyanov known as A. Matrosov and other) (1)

Summing up the results of the above we will notice that the collective system of beliefs and «sacral» meanings put in it, justify a group mission therapeutic effect of which, creates feeling of illusory safety and fictitious security in the modern world. And the popularized past, testifies to lack of the concrete future.
